matthew henry hall HULLO! ABOUT WORK: writing cartoons illustrations CONTACT

Hullo! So Glad You're Here!!

Feel free to look around.

You'll find info and examples of the art I've made — writing, cartoons, illustrations, and (coming soon) music. If you run through everything here and want more, please come back sooner than later. I've been talking with wild abandon about creating a weekly (more likely monthly) newsletter with one of my cartoons and/or illustrations and/or poems and/or original song! I'm not kidding. Please come back soon!!

Who is Matthew Henry Hall?

Photo of Me

Matthew Henry Hall is me, a very serious bunny person, who often wears a suit, tie, and glasses. Many people call me "Dr. Bunny." (By "many" I mean, "2.") I’ve also published cartoons and humorous illustrations in Reader’s Digest, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Missouri Review, Inside Higher Ed and many other publications such as the 2024 edition of What They Didn't Teach You In Graduate School (Routledge). I’ve written two traditionally published children’s picture books set in the Grand Canyon, The Lucky Hat (Grand Canyon Conservancy) and Phoebe and Chub (Rising Moon), a finalist for a Western Writers of America Storyteller award. The audio-version of "What Coyote Brought," a fable I wrote and recorded for all ages, appears on "Border Songs," a compilation-benefit album, featuring tracks by Calexico, Pete Seeger, Amos Lee, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Charles Bowden and many others. I also sing, play guitar and harmonica, write my own songs, and have opened shows for Richie Havens and Los Lobos. Most Thursdays I play music at The Annex in Flagstaff, Arizona.

More details? I believe we 2-leggeds desperately need a Revolution of Consciousness, where we all begin to deeply love, respect and try our best to understand each other . . . then extend that compassionate kindness and understanding out to all living beings, all spirits, all plants, all animals, and minerals too, this whole incredible miracle we call earth, the universe, home.

A Zombie Mine is an uranium mine that is and will remain radioactive pretty much forever. At the Grand Canyon just up above the south rim, the now closed Orphan Mine, which mined uranium in the 1950s and 60s, is suspected of causing the higher than safe levels of uranium in the water of Horn Creek inside Grand Canyon National Park. Official park descriptions of Horn Creek warn hikers to not drink the radioactive water from the creek unless they're literally dying of thirst.
